Israel Adesanya Loses Dance-Off to Yoel Romero Ahead of Infamous UFC 248 Title Fight

In a memorable moment from the UFC 248 press conference back in March 2020, Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero engaged in an impromptu dance battle that amused fans and UFC President Dana White.

Adesanya initiated the dance-off with a salsa jig, only to be outdone by his 42-year-old opponent, Romero, who displayed incredible athleticism with a backflip followed by a split.

The dance contest was one of the highlights in the lead-up to their middleweight title fight at UFC 248.

The actual fight, however, turned out to be a lackluster affair, as both fighters were cautious and threw few significant strikes.

The crowd expressed their displeasure with boos, still reeling from the excitement of the co-main event between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

The latter fight, a five-round strawweight title bout, is still regarded as one of the greatest female MMA fights ever.

Adesanya eventually emerged as the winner at UFC 248, but not without facing criticism for his performance.

He later lost his title to Alex Pereira at UFC 281 in November 2022.

However, Adesanya will have a chance to redeem himself in a highly anticipated rematch with Pereira at UFC 287 on Saturday night.

On the other hand, Yoel Romero moved on to Bellator after the UFC 248 fight.

The now-45-year-old fighter lost his promotional debut against former UFC contender Phil Davis but has since secured back-to-back knockout victories as a Bellator light heavyweight.

Romero is set to challenge Vadim Nemkov for the 205lb title in June.
