Discover the most unreliable cars of 2022, according to Consumer Reports. Find out which models made the list, from transmission troubles to power issues.

Imagine buying a new car and then discovering it is less dependable than you hoped. That is what happened to some people with these cars. Every year, Consumer Reports makes a list of the cars that have the most problems. Let us find out which cars made it to the “unreliable” list for 2022.

How They Figured It Out

Consumer Reports looked at 17 different kinds of problems that people had with their cars. They used complaints from 2019 and 2020 to predict reliable cars. The cars with the most complaints ended up on the list of the most unreliable cars. Now, let us take a look at the cars that did not do so well:

Subaru Ascent

The Subaru Ascent is a big vehicle tied for the 10th spot on the list. Some owners complained about the automatic transmission, which sometimes did not work smoothly. People also had trouble with the battery, which would die unexpectedly.

Chrysler Pacifica

This minivan also tied for the 10th place. People had engine and power system issues, especially in hybrid models. The engine would turn off or lose power when it was not supposed to.

Tesla Model Y

Tying with the others at 10th place is the Tesla Model Y. This car had the most complaints out of all the cars on the list. People mainly had problems with the car’s safety systems and Autopilot feature, which helps the car drive independently.

Also in seventh place is the Volvo XC90. Some people had issues with the car’s power system. The engine would not work correctly, and some parts needed to be replaced.

5Chevrolet Corvette

Surprisingly, a sports car made the list in fifth place. People reported problems with the car’s drivetrain, which includes the parts that make it go. There were also cases of the front trunk opening on its own.

Chevrolet Silverado

This pickup truck is 4th on the list. People said the truck had trouble shifting between gears, and the engine sometimes did not work well. Some also had problems with the brakes and the battery.

Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang, another sports car, is 3rd on the list. People had complaints about the brakes and the car’s engine. The newer 2022 models had fewer problems than the older ones.

Ford Explorer

Taking second place is the Ford Explorer, a popular SUV. People had various problems with this car, including the engine, the suspension (which helps the car stay comfortable), and the car’s body. There were also cases of the hood latch failing.
