Over the next few days, from August 30 to September 1, visitors will be whisked away on a journey to experience “TAIWAN—Waves of Wonder,” a new tourism brand set to make waves.

Bringing Taiwan to the Heart of London

As you enter the event, you are immediately greeted by the glow of large sky lanterns reminiscent of the famous Taiwan Lantern Festival.

The air is excited as people gather around interactive art installations, try their hand at traditional Taiwanese night market games, and savor the thought of soaking in the island’s natural hot springs.

This is a launch and a celebration of everything that makes Taiwan unique, wrapped up in one spectacular package.

Linda Yu-Shan Lin, the dynamic Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s London Office, took the stage to share what makes Taiwan a year-round destination.

“We want to show the world that Taiwan is not just a place to visit in the summer,” she explained.

“Our island is bursting with experiences for every season, whether you are there for the festivals, the tea culture, or simply to relax in a hot spring.”

A Celebration with Friends

The event was more than just a showcase; it was a gathering of friends and partners who have played a crucial role in bringing Taiwan closer to the UK.

Among them were Pei-Yu Yen, Team Manager of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK; Hung-Mei Huang, General Manager of China Airlines UK Branch; Yen-Cheng Lai, Marketing and Sales Manager of EVA Air UK Branch; and Evelyn Lee, President of the UK Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce.

Their presence underscored Taiwan’s strong connections with the UK over the years.

Pei-Yu Yen spoke warmly about Taiwan’s welcoming spirit, highlighting the 1,000 working holiday visa slots that have opened up between the UK and Taiwan.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for young people to experience Taiwan firsthand,” Yen said.

“The culture, the people, the convenience—it all makes Taiwan ideal for a working holiday.”

Lighting Up London with Taiwan’s Charm

However, Taiwan’s charm is not confined to the Battersea Power Station. The Taiwan Tourism Administration is rolling out an extensive campaign to bring the island’s beauty to the streets of London.

Imagine stepping onto the London Underground and seeing vibrant posters of Taiwan’s stunning landscapes or hailing a taxi wrapped in images of the island’s famous festivals.

It is all part of the plan to make Taiwan a top destination in the minds of British travelers.

Moreover, not just London is falling under Taiwan’s spell. After this event, the Taiwan Tourism Administration has plans to spread the word in Paris and New York.

Fresh off being named “Best Leisure Destination in Asia” at the 12th Leisure Lifestyle Awards by Global Traveler, Taiwan is on a mission to attract more visitors from around the globe.

A New Chapter for Taiwan Tourism

As the event draws to a close, it is clear that “Waves of Wonder” is more than just a tagline—it is a promise.

A promise of breathtaking adventures, rich cultural experiences, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you have found a second home.

Taiwan is ready to welcome the world, and with this new brand, they invite everyone to ride the waves of wonder.
