The Field of Dreams Movie Site will officially open its newly constructed professional ballpark this June with a special six-date high school baseball series featuring 12 teams from across eastern Iowa, including all six Dubuque County high schools.

The inaugural “If You Build It” High School Series runs June 17–26 and will give student-athletes the rare chance to compete on the same iconic diamond where Major League Baseball will return in August.

The series serves as the grand opening for the upgraded facility, which was renovated and expanded specifically to host professional-level play while preserving the movie site’s legendary cornfield setting.

“This series is about allowing high school players to compete on a field that designates everything great about the game,” said Tyler Daugherty, general manager of the Field of Dreams Ballpark.

“We are proud to open our new ballpark by celebrating community, competition, and the future of baseball right here at the Field of Dreams.”

Thursday, June 18: Cascade vs. Beckman (Varsity Doubleheader)
Friday, June 19: Dubuque Hempstead vs. Dubuque Senior (Varsity Doubleheader)
Monday, June 22: Bellevue vs. North Linn (JV & Varsity)
Wednesday, June 24: Wahlert vs. West Delaware (JV & Varsity)
Friday, June 26: Maquoketa Valley vs. Anamosa (JV & Varsity)

Game times will be announced when tickets go on sale.

Tickets for the entire series went on sale Monday, April 27, and can be purchased online at fieldofdreamsmoviesite.com/high-school-game-series.

The high school showcase will act as a “dress rehearsal” for the facility ahead of Major League Baseball’s return.

On August 13, 2026, the Minnesota Twins will host the Philadelphia Phillies in the third “MLB at Field of Dreams” game, which will air live on Netflix.

A Triple-A matchup between the St. Paul Saints and Iowa Cubs is also scheduled for August 11.

Local organizers say the series is designed to create once-in-a-lifetime memories for players, families, and fans while strengthening ties between the historic site and the surrounding communities that have long supported baseball in eastern Iowa.

For the next generation of players stepping onto the field where “If you build it, they will come” became legend, the message is simple: the dream is real, and it starts this June.
