A 27-year-old substitute teacher with the Llano Independent School District has been arrested and charged with an improper relationship between an educator and a student, a second-degree felony under Texas law.
Angela Louise Palmares was taken into custody without incident in Bell County on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
She was booked into the Bell County Jail and is being held on a $150,000 bond, according to jail records and the Llano County Sheriff’s Office.
District officials notified the Llano County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, April 21, after receiving a report of inappropriate communications between Palmares and one or more Llano High School students via social media outside school hours.
Llano ISD immediately removed Palmares from its approved substitute teacher list. She had not worked in the district since April 2.
Sheriff’s investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division promptly opened a case, conducted interviews, and gathered evidence that supported an arrest warrant.
Authorities coordinated with the Texas Department of Public Safety Fusion Center and the Bell County Sheriff’s Office to locate and apprehend Palmares in the Temple area.
In a letter sent to families, Llano ISD Superintendent Mac Edwards confirmed that the district had contacted the parents of the affected student (s).
While some media accounts have referred to multiple students, district officials have primarily referenced involvement with “a student.”
The investigation remains ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
Palmares faces one count of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student under Texas Penal Code 21.12.
She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
No additional court dates have been released publicly at this time.
